  • Don't Think Twice, It's All Right - Jerry Reed

    Eighty years ago Jerry Reed Hubbard, better known as Jerry Reed was born in Atlanta, GA. Jerry was not only a singer, guitarist and songwriter but also a movie actor. Among the songs he wrote were such classics as ‘Guitar Man’, made famous by Elvis, and 'A Thing Called Love’, which was a big hit for Johnny Cash. Jerry Reed died on September 1, 2008 at the age of 71. Read more about him here:

  • The Ballad Of Hollis Brown - Nina Simone

    Nina Simone (born Eunice Kathleen Waymon; February 21, 1933 – April 21, 2003) was an American singer, songwriter, pianist, arranger, and civil rights activist who worked in a broad range of musical styles.


    Simone has dug deep into the american song tradition and it comes as no surprise that she has done several of Bob Dylan’s songs.
    Nina’s first ever European concert took place in the Netherlands on November 8, 1965 at the opening night of the brandnew Mickery Theater in Loenersloot (near Amsterdam). To remember her on her birthday here’s The Ballad of Hollis Brown from that concert
