Nina Simone - The Ballad Of Hollis Brown

Nina Simone (born Eunice Kathleen Waymon; February 21, 1933 – April 21, 2003) was an American singer, songwriter, pianist, arranger, and civil rights activist who worked in a broad range of musical styles.

Simone has dug deep into the american song tradition and it comes as no surprise that she has done several of Bob Dylan’s songs.
Nina’s first ever European concert took place in the Netherlands on November 8, 1965 at the opening night of the brandnew Mickery Theater in Loenersloot (near Amsterdam). To remember her on her birthday here’s The Ballad of Hollis Brown from that concert
