Gillian Welch and David Rawlings - Billy
Pat Garrett became most famous as the legendary Wild West sheriff who killed Billy the Kid in 1881. On february 29, 1908 he was shot dead himself under unclear circumstances. Read more about him here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pat_Garrett
Pat Garrett has been a character in many movies and television shows. For visitors of this site of course the most interesting one is Sam Peckinpah’s 1973 western movie “Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid”, in which Dylan is not only playing a small acting role, but also provided the soundtrack music. This includes the original version of “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door” which became one of Bob’s biggest hits.
Since we don’t want to wait three more years until the 29th of February will pop up on the calender again we are paying attention to him right now. Here is a beautiful version of “Billy” by Gillian Welch and David Rawlings:
