Roland von Malmberg

roland von malmborgTroubadour Roland von Malmborg struck a record deal in 1965 with RCA Victor. Despite creative differences, they released the main-stream album, Räck din hand, as well as two singles, including a Swedish version of Barry McGuire's "Eve Of Destruction". He left RCA to record folk ballads with political lyrics that major record companies would not touch, creating the Globalist label in the process. The fact that he started his own label under these circumstances foreshadowed the essential elements of the Movement, although his pacifist non-communist and non-capitalist beliefs never really made him a part it, himself. Even so, he managed to sell the two thousand copies he pressed of Vårt klolrunda fosterland. Roland von Malmborg also participated on the Vi kan leva utan kärnkraft compilation album. He later became a politician for environmental party Miljöpartiet. Both his albums are available on CD.
